  1. BFI Canada Income Fund Announces Results For The Three Months Ended March 31, 2006

    BFI Canada (TSX: BFC.UN) announced robust growth in its operations through the first quarter ended March 31, 2006. Results were helped by the acquisition of IESI that did not occur until the second month (January 21, 2005) of the quarter last year. Combined revenues grew by 32% to $179 million from $135 million. EBITDA grew by 26% to $50.5 million from $40 million and net earnings advanced to $5 million from a loss of $8 million in the first quarter last year.   2. Waste Services, Inc. Has closed its Acquisition of Liberty Waste, LLC

    Waste Services, Inc. announced that it has closed the previously announced acquisition of Liberty Waste, LLC to expand its operations in the Tampa, Florida market. Liberty Waste is a collection operation based in Tampa with two transfer stations located in Tampa and Clearwater. The transfer stations are both permitted to accept construction and demolition and Class III waste volumes. This acquisition will complement Waste Services' existing operations in the Tampa market.   3. Covanta's Delaware Valley WTE Facility Honored by OSHA

    Covanta Delaware Valley, a renewable energy power plant located in Chester, Pennsylvania fueled by municipal solid waste will be honored by the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with its "STAR" designation. The "STAR" recognition is OSHA's highest honor given to power generating facilities with outstanding health and safety practices.   6. Darling International Inc. Announces First Quarter 2006 Results

    Darling International Inc. (Amex: DAR) announced a modest increase in sales and a slight drop in net income for the first quarter ended April 1, 2006. Sales for the quarter advanced to $76.4 million from $71.4 million a year ago while net income declined to $0.4 million or $0.01 per share versus $0.9 million or $0.01 per share a year ago. Higher energy prices, legal expenses and a modernization of the Fresno, Ca. project contributed to the decline in net income.

  8. PPL Completes Methane-to-Electricity Project at Lancaster County Landfill

    A PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) subsidiary has begun commercial operation of a 3.2-megawatt methane-to-electricity power generation system the company designed and constructed on a 2-acre site at the Frey Farm Landfill in Lancaster County, Pa.
    PPL, which owns and operates the plant, buys methane gas from the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority and uses the gas to power two Caterpillar generators. Power from the landfill produces enough electricity to supply 4,000 homes...Read More »

    Industrial Services of America, Inc.
