Wisconsin DNR Considers Plans That Would Enlarge Landfills

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is considering a proposal that would allow larger municipal landfills in the state. Current rules say that leachate collection pipes cannot exceed 1,200 feet. The new proposal would allow pipes up to 2,000 feet long, which would accommodate landfills about two-thirds wider and 100 feet higher than current rules.
